Learn to transform flat sheets of clay into unique, functional, or sculptural pieces. Students will master template making, soft and stiff slab construction, surface decoration, and glazing.
Perfect for beginners; Learn how to roll, cut, and texture clay slabs using stamps and found objects. Construction: Discover how to score, slip, and assemble pieces into functional forms (e.g., mugs, planters, and trays) or sculptural vessels. Finishing: Practice surface design techniques and apply glazes to complete your masterpieces. Students will return to glaze projects after bisque fire.

| Instructor Bio: | Marti Swanson is an award-winning artisan who has worked in a variety of tactile mediums. The discovery of felting and fiber arts brings together a melding of Marti’s passions from sculpting, playing with color and the tactile art of creating with fiber. She has always been curious and finds the path of learning and experimenting to be a continual source of creative inspiration. Her approach to teaching is to explore and discover while having fun. Her reward is seeing the excitement in students as they challenge themselves and succeed. |
